When it comes to sleeping at night some of us are able to get to sleep quickly and have a restful night's sleep and wake up feeling refreshed in the morning. However there are a large proportion of people who can not get the good night's sleep they want and when the alarm goes off in the morning they are still very tired and restless.
There are some useful tips to observe which may give you a better night sleep. Of course the reason may be because you do not have a sufficient bed so if you have had the same one for many years you should think about buying a new one first as this maybe the sole reason behind you not getting the correct amount of hours sleep. However, if your bed is relatively new then you can try a few of these hints and tips to see what effect it has.

One good idea is to listen to white noise or relaxation CD's which work for many people and can really help. If you have not tried it before this is one of the most tried and tested methods around. Even the sound of a fan may help as it is a soothing sound that can help you get to sleep.
Something that some people like to do is have a bedtime snack but this is not advised as this raises blood sugars and prevents you from sleeping. When your blood sugars drop you will probably wake up earlier than necessary and you may find it hard to get to sleep. Make sure you have a hearty meal at dinner time and rest before bed, also try and avoid caffeinated drinks such as tea and coffee.
It is advisable to switch off the television before bed because this stimulates the mind and will certainly prevent you from sleeping. If you can switch off the TV and hour or more before bed then your mind will be suitably rested and ready for going to sleep.
If you are someone who wakes up regularly then it may be because your feet are cold, your feet get cold before the rest of your body because they have the worst circulation.
